Interview and random things....

So I interviewed for the volunteer position at the zoo on the 19th.  It was a group interview where we had to do several activities such as explaining a difficult question to a child.  My picture looked like this:

So I said I would tell the preschooler that they were just hugging really tightly.

We also had to describe an animal fact to a child with a lot of questions.  I talked about the length of a giraffe tongue.  18 inches and how they used their tongue to reach the leaves on really high branches of trees.  Also the black tongue prevents the tongue from getting sunburned while eating and being out of the mouth so often.

Then we had to explain a random object and 2 safety issues that may arise from it.  I talked about the bungee cord and how you had to be careful when using it because it can snap back and hit you or someone else in the face.  Also do not wrap it around your neck or any body part because it can get pulled on and tighten.

Well I found out that I got the volunteer position as an animal contact aid.  I will be working in the goat yard, at the giraffe feedings and helping at the camel rides.

Oh my hubby and I decided to get a green thumb and bought an upside-down tomato plant and some seeds for zinnia and bluebonnets.  So far we have seedlings for the zinnia and the tomato plant and only a few seedlings for the bluebonnets.

Well thats it for  now....I have training starting next saturday for the volunteer position.

A year after graduation...........

This sunday will be a year since I graduated college....and it has me reflecting on what all has happened in  that time.

Basically I feel like I have nothing to show for this past year...although I know I have done a LOT of things its just a lot of things led up to me not having the job I have been wanting.

In this past year I:

1. Graduated college
2. Took an internship at The Wildcat Sanctuary in Minnesota for the summer
3. Took an internship at The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens in Ohio for the fall
4. Flew to Maryland and got engaged in October
5. Moved back to Texas to live with my mom
6. Was in my moms wedding
7. Got married to my man of 6 years in a justice of the peace ceremony
8. Began planning having a real wedding
9. My hubby and I got a townhome in Maryland
10. I moved to Maryland with my cat to move in with my hubby
11. Applied to countless positions at zoos and aquariums around the area
12.  Had 2 interviews at a zoo....but no job
13. Went to see the Cherry Blossoms in DC for the 100th year celebration
14. Got a job at Petsmart to take care of their animals.
15. Applied to volunteer at the zoo

SO yes that was a year in a nutshell...a lot happened so why do I feel like I have failed?

Why is getting my first real job so difficult and why is it what I base my success on?

Ugh well hopefully next year I can say I got the first real job....

I feel like going to college/ having 3 internships did not help me at all....I can not figure out what the places want to actually hire me
